Daily News | Jakarta – According to KPK data, on November 1 2018 at a hotel in Jakarta, Firli Bahuri met a political party leader. A blatant violation of the code of conduct.
In the past, according to public records, Firli has committed misconduct which not only threatened his position but most importantly threatened the main mission of the KPK itself, and of course the fate of this country.
As chairman of the KPK, an anti-racism institution, Firli Bahuri should be an example to many. What happened should be, for nearly four years in his duty in KPK, he was repeatedly reported for alleged violations of the code of ethics.
Starting from the problem of renting a helicopter, the removal of Brigadier General Endar, to the latest is the matter of leaking documents.
1) Pick up Witnesses to be Examined
In 2018, Firli Bahuri still served as Deputy for Enforcement. To be precise, on August 8 2018 he created a controversy, namely picking up a witness directly who was to be examined by KPK investigators.
The witness in question was the deputy chairman of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) at the time, Bahrullah. Firli admitted that he picked up Bahrullah at the KPK lobby and had invited the BPK leadership to his room.
Not long after, investigators came to Firli’s room to pick up Bahrullah to conduct an examination. For his carelessness, in September 2019 Firli was also declared to have committed a serious ethical violation because of this action.
2) Conducting meetings with political party officials
According to the KPK, on November 1, 2018, at a hotel in Jakarta, Firli Bahuri met with a political party leader.
The KPK emphasized that it has a number of evidences, both in the form of videos and recordings, regarding the ethical violations committed by Firli Bahuri.
While undergoing the fit and proper test at DPR Commission III last September 2019, Firli also revealed his meeting with a political party leader.
However, he said, the meeting was not intentional. Firli admitted that he attended at the invitation of his colleague, then met with the general chairman of the political party who also happened to be present at the event. However, Firli’s meeting with the chairman of the political party also led to a serious ethical violation.
3) Meeting Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB)
Firli Bahuri was declared to have committed a serious ethical violation because he met former Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) M Zainul Majdi or who is familiarly called Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB), 12-13 May 2018.
Ethically, Firli should not have met TGB because the KPK was investigating allegations of corruption in PT Newmont’s share ownership involving the NTB provincial government.
4) Firli Bahuri Rented a Helicopter
The KPK Supervisiory Body (Dewas) stated that Firli Bahuri was guilty in the verdict ethics trial which was held on 24 September 2020 because he had rented and used a private helicopter for his personal trips.
Firli was found guilty of violating Article 4 Paragraph (1) letter n and Article 8 Paragraph (1) letter f of the KPK Supervisory Board Regulation Number 2 of 2020 concerning Enforcement of the KPK Code of Ethics and Conduct.
“Punish the examinee with mild sanctions in the form of written warnings 2, namely so that the examinee does not repeat his actions and so that the examinee as Chair of the KPK always maintains his attitude and behavior by complying with the prohibitions and obligations stipulated in the KPK’s Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct,” said KPK Chairman Tumpak Panggabean at the time.
5) Met Governor Lukas Enembe
Last November 2022, Firli Bahuri was heavily criticized by various parties because he had a meeting with Governor Lukas Enembe who was in a case at the KPK.
It has been in the spotlight a lot, the KPK has confirmed that Firli’s arrival at Lukas Enembe’s residence in Koya Tengah District, Jayapura, Papua, but strangely it did not declare he violated the code of ethics.
The reason is that at that time Firli came to examine Luke. The KPK said Firli’s steps were still within the context of carrying out the main tasks of the anti-corruption agency.
6) Dismissal of Brigadier General Endar and Documents Leaked
Most recently, Firli Bahuri’s controversy was that he was reported by the General Chair of the Indonesian Young Activist Community (PB KAMI) for allegedly violating the code of ethics regarding the dismissal of Brigadier General Endar Priantoro as Director of Investigation at the KPK.
The following day, Brigadier General Endar Priantoro reported directly to Firli Bahuri for the same case. Endar also at the same time reported the Secretary General (Secretary General) of the KPK Cahya H Harefa.
“The aim is to make a complaint regarding the alleged violation of the code of ethics by the Secretary General of the KPK, and one of the KPK leaders,” Endar told the media.
Lastly, on Thursday, April 6 2023, Firli was again reported to the Supervisory Board by the Chairman of PB KAMI, Sultoni. He is suspected of being involved in leaking documents similar to the results of an investigation into alleged corruption in performance allowances. (kba)
